Civil Litigation Defense Associate

Location: San Francisco Bay Area (San Francisco / Walnut Creek) — Hybrid or Remote (California bar required)

Compensation: Up to $200,000 base + performance bonus

Seniority: Associate (1–8 years)

Billable Target: 1,850 hours

About the Role

Our client is an established civil litigation defense firm with offices in San Francisco, Walnut Creek, and Nevada. They’re hiring three Associate Attorneys with 1–8 years of experience to handle a varied civil defense docket in a supportive, team-centered environment. You’ll partner closely with an experienced Partner, and depending on tenure, manage your own caseload.

What You’ll Do

• Handle all phases of litigation: court appearances, discovery, depositions, motion practice, mediations, client communications, and trial prep .
• Build hands-on trial skills; trial experience or strong trial interest is a plus .
• Collaborate across a collegial litigation team with mentorship and training.

What You’ll Bring

• Active California Bar and 1–8 years of civil litigation experience (defense preferred).
• Solid experience with depositions, written/oral discovery, motion practice, and case management .
• Strong communication skills with clients, external partners, and the court.
• Proactive, organized, team-oriented , and excited to grow into first-chair responsibilities.
