The Shaw JCC is a community center in Akron that provides services in aquatics, fitness, and childcare. Our acquatic department is hiring for lifeguards for our outside and indoor pool. If you are looking for summer employment or something year round, we offer both!

our lifeguards are committed to ensuring the safety of our members and providng excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure the health and safety of members and guests using the pool.
• Maintain surveillence while on duty and always remain rescue ready.
• Follow emergency response within the American Red Cross guidelines.
• Enforce safety rules and regulations to prevent accidents or casualties in an appropriate manner.
• Make rescues and administer first aid when necessary
• Test pool chemicals, chlorine and ‘ph.’ readings and records result accurately.
• Inspects pool areas before and after each shift for possible maintenance, cleanliness or damage problems and reports problems to management as appropriate.
• Maintains and ensures proper storage of all pool equipment.

E ducation and Qualifications

• American Red Cross CPR for the professional rescuer
• American Red Cross Lifeguard Training or equivalent
• Pass a preliminary CPR and lifeguard swimming skills test
