Neonatology - Physician at IU Health Medical Group - Indiana University Health summary:

The Neonatologist provides expert care for critically ill and premature newborns in Level III and IV NICUs at Riley Hospital for Children, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams including maternal-fetal medicine and pediatric subspecialists. The role involves daytime attending responsibilities, high-risk delivery service participation, night call coverage, and active contribution to academic and quality improvement initiatives. This position offers a faculty appointment opportunity at Indiana University School of Medicine and requires board certification in pediatrics and neonatal-perinatal medicine.

Riley Hospital for Children at Indiana University Health is seeking a compassionate, patient-focused Neonatologist to join our nationally recognized team in Indianapolis. As a leader in neonatal care, Riley Children’s treats more than 3,500 newborns annually across its Level IV and Level III NICUs. Our multidisciplinary team—comprised of board-certified neonatologists, advanced practice providers, and pediatric subspecialists—delivers comprehensive, lifesaving care that often begins prenatally and continues through the NICU stay and beyond. We work closely with maternal-fetal medicine, pediatric surgical and medical subspecialties, and neurodevelopmental follow-up programs to ensure seamless, family-centered care. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic academic environment where your clinical expertise, passion for teaching, and commitment to innovation will make a lasting impact.

This position will serve the neonatal intensive care units at Riley Hospital for Children, home to Indiana’s most advanced and comprehensive neonatal care. The Martha Ann (Rieth) Van Dyke NICU, a 60-bed Level IV unit located in the Simon Family Tower, provides the highest level of care for premature and critically ill newborns. Riley Children’s is consistently ranked among the top neonatology programs in the nation by U.S. News & World Report and ranks 6th out of 47 U.S. centers in patient complexity, according to the Children’s Hospital Neonatal Consortium. In addition, the Riley Maternity Tower houses a 45-bed Level III NICU, a dedicated labor and delivery unit, and one of the nation’s few obstetrical intensive care units. Riley is also home to the Heart Center NICU, which includes specialized beds for cardiac intensive care newborns, along with a newly added 12-bed Progressive Care NICU. Together, these units form the largest NICU in Indiana and one of the largest in the country, offering unmatched opportunities for clinical care, teaching, and innovation in maternal and neonatal medicine.
